Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama is our nation's first African-American First Lady
of the United States. Wife of our incumbent and 44th President of the
United States, Barack Obama, she is also mother to two daughters --
Malia Ann, soon-to-be 14-years old and Sasha, age 11.
On Friday, JPMorgan Chase was strongly criticized for stating that the
$2 billion loss its trading group suffered was due to a tactic for
handling financial risks that meant well but was executed poorly. Three
years after the near meltdown of the financial sector, the huge blunder
was referenced as evidence that the largest banks in the country are
still not concerned about the potentially disastrous impacts of their
financial speculations.
President Obama has recently shown how distressed homeowners have been
taking advantage of the administration's refinance programs but that
more needs to be done. He has announced figures that demonstrate how, in
many troubled housing markets, struggling homeowners are successfully
pursuing government-backed refinance programs.
For businesses to understand African investment, they must realize that
African long-term capital investments are not a niche asset class, said
African investor Tony Elumelu. Financial commitments that build economic
prosperity and social wealth should be the focal point of all African
investment.
President Obama surprised many Americans this month as the first sitting
President to announce his support of same-sex marriage. While Obama's
staunchest critics believe he has risked alienating many of his
African-American supporters, his supporters reject this notion.
